More than 5 hectares of vineyard have been allocated to growing Aleatico grapevines and they yield about 11,000 bottles (0.375 L). Aleatico marcs are also used for a small production of Grappa (about 300 bottles) by the famous Capovilla Distillati distillery that makes use of manual procedures to especially enhance the exclusive olfactory features of this vine species.
The Gorgaccio vineyard, which stretches for about 6 hectares with an eastern exposure and is the coolest part of the farm, produces Vermentino grapes from which “Bianco delle Ripalte” [Ripalte white wine] is manufactured (with a yield of about 18,000 bottles). This fragrant white wine has a very decided flavour that is characterised by a rich mineral content from the soil and the nearby sea.
Alicante, a vine species that is common to the entire Mediterranean basin and which adjusts well to the extremely dry climate of the Island of Elba, is the principal grape used to produce the Rosso delle Ripalte [Ripalte red wine]. The 3 hectares of vineyard produce about 10,000 bottles. The result is exceptional – a “different” Tuscan red wine with an amazing harmonious personality and a surprisingly elegant close.
The last born is Rosato delle Ripalte [Ripalte blush wine]. The result of a new interpretation of the old Aleatico species, it offers the rich primary scents of flowers and fruit combined with the excellent texture of a dry and clean product to be savoured as an aperitif.
