The typical wines of Elba Island: aleatico, raisin wine, vermentino and rosé
The wine project resulted in the planting of a vineyard of 16.5 hectares in size. Much of the land is dedicated to the cultivation of the typical grape variety of Elba Island: Aleatico. The grapes are used for the production of Aleatico Passito dell'Elba (5,000 half bottles) and Aleatico Rosato (about 18,000 bottles) and Brut Rosé sparkling wine (10,000 bott.).

A very small production of Grappa (about 300 bottles) is also distilled from the pomace of the same grapes, thanks to the skillful work of Vittorio Capovilla and his renowned Distillery.
The "Gorgaccio" vineyards, with eastern exposure, and the "Pascoli Alti" ("High Pastures") vineyards at 350 m above sea level, where the climate is cooler, produce "Bianco delle Ripalte" (about 25,000 bottles), characterized by the Vermentino grape variety. A fragrant wine with a strong flavor and excellent sapidity.

"Rosso delle Ripalte" is made from Alicante (Grenache) and Carignan grapes. These grape varieties are common to the entire Mediterranean basin and are well adapted to the arid and hot climate of the island of Elba. The result is truly extraordinary: a "different" red, with great character, harmonious and surprisingly elegant that is very well suited to the seafood cuisine typical of the coast. Alicante grapes grow in 4 hectares of vineyards, with a production of around 15,000 bottles per year.
In the most favorable years and with the best grapes, a few thousand bottles of Bianco Mediterraneo (vermentino grapes with added fiano) and Rosso Mediterraneo (pure Alicante grapes from the oldest vineyard) are produced.

PIERMARIO MELETTI CAVALLARI
He joined the Society at the beginning of the wine project and is its manager and director.
His involvement stems from his passion for raisin wines and is strengthened by the uniqueness and potential of the Ripalte territory.
It was a new adventure for Piermario, following his initial management career in Milan, his pioneering wine bar in Bergamo Alta, and his 30 years as a winemaker in Bolgheri, with the creation and development of the Grattamacco winery. On this farm, which has always been listed among the "classic" D.O.C. (controlled designation of origin) Bolgheri labels, he had already planted a row of Aleatico, which he would use to make wine for his friends.
His passion for viticulture led him to value a then-forgotten grape variety on the island: the Alicante. With a winemaking culture that eschew over-ripening and over-extraction, he has defined a red wine of great elegance and drinkability, different from the Bolgheri wines as tannic structure, but no less complex and enjoyable.
